Eastern Columbia Lofts - An Art Deco Masterpiece
Clad in stunning turquoise terra cotta and gold leaf, the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles is undeniably one of Los Angeles's most significant buildings architecturally. Eastern Columbia is an example of zigzag art moderne architecture. It is well regarded as an Art Deco masterpiece and is considered by many architectural enthusiasts to be one of Los Angeles's most remarkable buildings. Located in the center of downtown Los Angeles at 849 South Broadway, Eastern Columbia is a 13-story building that is easily spotted by its vibrant turquoise color. It is located across the street from the recently restored Orpheum Theatre. The Historic Core is home to many Beaux Arts, Art Deco, and Victorian buildings, many of which were revitalized during the boom years of LA real estate in the early to mid 2000's.
Eastern Columbia Reborn
Eastern Columbia was converted into loft-style condominiums in 2006 by the developer KOR Group, celebrated interior designer Kelly Wearstler, and Killefer Flammang Architects.
